"A Play, A Pie, And A Pint" back by popular demand!
Tiny Dynamite Productions has announced that the second season of “A Play, A Pie, And A Pint,” following a hugely successful sell-out run last fall, will launch March 6, once again at The Red Room of The Society Hill Playhouse.
The season will run for four weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A new show will be produced each week (all comedies) and, as always, will be served up alongside a pie (slice of pizza) and a pint (or another beverage of choice).
The concept of “A Play, A Pie, And A Pint” launched at The Oran Mor Theatre space in Glasgow seven years ago; they’ve since produced more than 250 plays.
The premise is simple: plays are performed at a non-traditionally early time on days when most other theaters are often dark, with food and drink built right into the ticket price.
Reserve your seats online.
When: Every Tuesday & Wednesday at 6 p.m., March 6-28
Where: The Red Room, Society Hill Playhouse, 507 S. 8th Street
Cost: $15

Sue Serio makes her stage debut!
Fox 29 weather anchor Sue Serio and husband Bill Vargus, a former sportscaster at the station, co-star in "Love Letters" Feb. 29 - March 4 at the Media Theatre for the Performing Arts.
The couple live near the theater and had been impressed with productions there. They were invited to perform together in "Love Letters," which Serio says is "traditionally done by people who are a couple. You basically read the letters people have written to each other over 50 years," she said.
So, nothing to memorize, huh? "Our director said it's a good idea if you are really familiar with the material." Serio says she and Vargas are having fun rehearsing. We asked if the role was putting pressure on Billy V. to be extra-expressive on Valentine's Day. "He does give mushy cards," Serio says of Vargus, who has been doing some acting and voice-over work, as well as writing for Philly2Philly.com.
Would they entertain doing more theater? "If nobody throws tomatoes at us, sure. Definitely."

2012 Manayunk on Ice is this weekend!
Nothing says, “I love you” like a chainsaw furiously ripping away at a massive block of frozen H2O.

Iron Hill Bewery’s Oopma Loompa Stout release party.

A medium-bodied chocolate stout that’s been aged for two weeks on Madagascar vanilla beans and cocoa nibs, Oompa Loompa Stout will be passed around for tastings by employees dressed as those odd little characters from the book and film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (we weren’t kidding you).
To top it off, guests can also indulge in house-made chocolate truffles and purchase 16 oz. mugs of the stout.
No golden ticket is required for entrance.
Enjoy the chocolatey experience, but try not to pull an Augustus Gloop and be the first to get ejected from the factory for “over-indulging”.
