Philadelphia Science Festival!

The inaugural citywide Philadelphia Science Festival is April 15-28, featuring more than 120 free events for Philadelphians of all ages in a unique collaboration of Philadelphia’s schools, universities, cultural institutions, scientists and engineers.

A portion of those events will center around the science of food, enabling you to explore the magic of your taste buds.

Check out what’s on the schedule:
Science Festival Beer Tapping: April 15, 9 p.m. Following the Philly vs. Boston science-themed StorySlam, don’t miss the afterparty at Kite & Key Restaurant as the first batch of the Yards special craft Science Festival Belgian Strong Ale is tapped (and nerdy name revealed). Ticket holders from the StorySlam will receive beer specials all night. CLICK HERE to vote on your favorite name for the beer!
The Artisanal Microbe: Cheese: April 20, 6:30 p.m. Try local cheeses at Di Bruno Bros. while enjoying a discussion on the role microbes play in making cheeses.
Melting Moments of Delight: The Science of Chocolate: April 22, 6 p.m. Experience how seeds are converted into delicious chocolate while you savor free samples with cocoa scientists from Mars, Inc. and flavor experts from the Monell Center.
From Hops to Stein: The Science of Beer: April 23, 7 p.m. Discover the science behind brewing and the ways in which our taste buds and noses process these sudsy delights with scientists from Monell Center and the brewers from Yards. While you’re here at Yards Brewery, quaff a pint of the specially-brewed Science Festival Beer.
All Things Fermented: The Science of Beer and Cheese: April 27, 6:30 p.m. During this enlightening and delicious two-hour tasting adventure in Old City, City Food Tours co-owner Eric Matzke will introduce you to seven draughts brewed on-site at Triumph Brewing Company.
